The field of competition was amazing this year and event guests were treated to an amazingly sweet display of cupcake choices! The People’s Choice Award went to Belinda Moore for the Caramel Macchiato Cupcake.
Our judges evaluated entries in small groups using the categories listed below. Contenders moved on to the finalists table and were then judged by one group of professionals, so that the scoring would be consistent. Each entry was measured on the following criteria:
- Ability to cleanly slice the cupcake
- Visual appeal of sliced cupcake
- Texture/taste of cupcake
- Overall taste appeal
- Texture/taste of filling/icing
- Appearance
- Overall complexity
- Creativity
- Interpretation of theme
