Welcome to the first Annual Cupcake Challenge at the National Capital Area Cake Show! To celebrate this grand beginning in true DC style we will be exploring flavor combinations inspired by:
Cupcake Cocktail Hour
This inaugural event will provide a festive atmosphere for cupcake aficionados of all ages to enjoy cocktail-themed mini cupcakes, shaken and stirred by bakers from across the region! Join us for live demonstrations by sugar art celebrities, vote for your favorite flavors, and meet other cupcake connoisseurs.

Admission tickets are $15 per person, with a discount for cupcake bakers entering the challenge.
Tasters
Prefer eating cupcakes to slaving over a hot oven? While tasting all of the delicious morsels baked by cupcake challenge participants you will be treated to two live demonstrations featuring Mike Elder and Becky Rink who will share some of thier favorite tips and tricks with you.

People in Northern Virginia LOVE their cupcakes. We will try to make a small number of tickets available throughout the day on Saturday to those attending the main Cake Show. However, we don’t want to exceed our fire code limitations or run out of cupcakes.
We apologize to those who wanted to attend and hope that you will secure your tickets nice and early next year!
Thank you all for your enthusiasm. I know that our charities will be appreciative of the great turnout.

Bakers
Both professional and hobby bakers are invited to bring their best themed cupcakes to the arena at NCACS where they will compete against one another for fame and prizes. (Ok, we can only promise prizes!)
Judging will be overseen by professional sugar artists from the main cake show divisional and wedding cake competitions, as well as members of the community. Event attendees will also select a People’s Choice winner.

About the Cake Show

Proceeds from the event will benefit Fisher House and Icing Smiles Inc.
Icing Smiles Inc. is a non profit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by critical illness of a child. These cakes provide a temporary escape from worry and create a positive memory during a difficult time.
